DENTAL IMPLANTS VS DENTURES

Having a healthy smile boosts your confidence but loosing teeth can be quite distressing. The two most effective methods for replacing missing teeth to restore that great smile are dental implants and dentures.
DEFINITION :- Before going into the lesson details we need to understand what dental implants and dentures mean. The definition is as under ;
Dental Implants :- A dental implant is a surgical component that interfaces with the bone of the jaw or skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor.

Dentures :- A denture is a section of false teeth made to replace missing teeth in a person’s mouth.
WHY DENTAL IMPLANTS ARE BETTER THAN DENTURES :- Both dental implants and dentures are well known terms in the field of dentistry but dental implants are better than dentures. The reasons are as under ;
Long Lasting :- Dental implants are built to last that makes them your best long term, cost effective solution. Traditional dental bridges only last for five to seven years and then again need to be replaced. Whereas, dental implants may need periodic adjustments, they can last lifetime when properly placed and taken care off. Dental implant treatment has a track record of reliable, long term successful outcomes and is often considered more predictable than other treatments to repair or replace missing teeth.

No Worries :- Dental implants allow you to keep your teeth where they belong in your mouth. No more worrying that your dentures might slip or fall out. Brush, floss and care for teeth that have been replaced using dental implants exactly the way you would have natural teeth in your mouth. There is no need to stay home or feel uncomfortable because your smile looks different or worry that missing teeth will limit your ability to join in fun. You don’t need to worry because teeth restored with dental implants are teeth that let you lead your life.
Better Hygiene :- Cavities cant occur in an implant-restored crown or replacement tooth. However, you will need to visit your dentist as scheduled and clean and care for it and your gums and mouth every day. The same as you would be doing if it would be a natural tooth.

Protect healthy bone :- Leaving empty spaces in your mouth after losing one or more teeth can lead to additional health issues such as the loss of some of your jaw bone. When it is not being used to support a natural tooth, the jaw bone deteriorates, losing its strength and firmness. Dental implants are the only dental restoration option available that preserves and stimulates natural bone. Actually helping to stimulate bone growth and prevent bone loss.
Better experience :- Dental implants allow you to speak easy and eat your favorite food. You can taste and enjoy the food you love without hesitation when you have dental implants placed inside your mouth. You can bite naturally and eat virtually anything you want with dental implants. Dental implants also help prevent healthy, adjacent teeth from shifting, otherwise those teeth could shift into the empty space next to them.

Natural smile :- A face without teeth looks like a sad face. Dental implants allow you to maintain the natural shape of your face and smile. Dentures may slip when you eat, talk, smile, laugh, yawn or cough, so that you have to reposition them back into place in your mouth. At the other end, dental implants are fixed in place and fuse naturally with your jawbone, meaning thereby, your replacement teeth won’t move, click or shift.
